GMHG Picture

Friday evening at the Sponsor and Patron's Reception held at the Broyhill Inn and Conference Center on the Appalachian State University campus. Left to right: Rick Leenders, Rebecca & Henry Scott, Sue Leenders, Clark & Judith Scott.
These people look too distinguished to be pillaging & plundering - "Border Reivers".

Members Shirlee & Joe Olinger stopped to visit the Clan Scott tent.
They are avid golfers, hmmm, when is the next Tartan Golf Tournament?

"Welcome, to Clan Scott,
Wood Family!"

William, Shawna, Kameron, Kyleigh & Kassidy!

Grandfather Mountain Highland Games

Yes, I have survived the 4-day weekend. I felt surprisingly, OK, until we headed home Sunday evening. Then it hit me, WOW, was I tired! Every thing stayed in the car overnight, except the make-up case with the bedtime pills. In the driveway at 9:30, crawling into bed at 9:38.
But, in all, we had a great time! I got to see friends I hadn't seen in a couple of years, and some even longer.
The Clan had missed GMHG for a few years, when the previous commissioner resigned, and it had been noticed. Several other clans and several GMHG officials came up to me, and said they were glad Clan Scott was back on the mountain.
Past-chieftain Clark Scott bought a chain-saw carved bear, and caught a lot of ribbing over having a bear seat belted in his back seat. Clan Scott is a fun bunch, who else do you know that would do this. Oh, yes, my former boss at Mae's Fabric - her husband did the same thing the first day of their two week vacation. OK, I know some wild & crazy people.

GMHG - 1 week & counting

It is one week, until we head to Grandfather Mountain to get the Clan Scott tent set-up and attend the torchlight ceremony.
Today I made a new tartan flag, out of my new piece of Ancient Red tartan. DH has been printing bookmarks; I have them laminated and the tassels are on them.
The bookmarks will be a little gift for anyone turning in a paid membership form at GMHG, next weekend. We will be making buttons, key chains and t-shirts over the next few days.

Then we need to pack clothes. I need to figure out 6 outfits for the 4 days. You "guys" have it so easy, put on a clean shirt each day and 1 evening, slip on either your Doune or Prince Charlie Jackets with a tux shirt, and your good to go! OH, yes, don't forget clean socks with the clean shirts.
